Part of the thesis involves estimating the optimal capital structure of these firms and then calculating the “discounted value” premium (hypothesis is that firms rarely or never gear to the optimal for obvious reasons. How large is this discounted value premium? And how does this behaviour relate to the tradeoff theory? Thank you very much for this literature; it is very useful, indeed. There is limited literature on this topic of estimating the optimal capital structure; the “old” one being the Hamada approach which relies on trial and error method of estimating credit spread. Your approach is very practical. Credit risk must be accurately priced. These are very useful articles and they will certainly help me in my research. |
